The train from Rome runs twice per hour. There is a link to the Trenitalia site at the beginning of this thread. Just click on the link and type in "From"-"To!" and the time you want to travel..VOILA!!!
If you are looking at train departure for November they might not be able to give it to you as it is 8 months away. But I dont think the departures will change that much from now until your cruise.

The distance from the train station to the port entrance is 4 blocks (10 minute walk more or less) but with luggage you might want to take a taxi all the way to the ship unless Costa has a shuttle bus from the train station to the pier.

hi lars booked with caleb at v.t.g.do you know if you have to contact costa aboutthe shuttle from the train station or is it there on a regular basis on the day of departure?

I am not sure if there is a regular shuttle. I think Costa would set up a shuttle service.

Well this is what I have found out.
There is a free shuttle to/from the port entrance-ship provided by the port.
The shuttle goes from the Old Fort to the ship.
As far as I know taxies are not allowed into the docks area. Neither is walking to the ship. Private cars/vans are allowed all the way to the ship.
But I would check with a taxi company when in Civitavecchia if they now are able to go into the dock area to your ship.

When we where on the Voyager OS they had a shuttle service to/from the ship-train station. The price for the service was $5 per persons.

Thank you for posting all this wonderful info. We will be in Rome on Nov. 4-6 and are are in the process of looking into this transfer process from Rome to port. Every little bit of info helps. Thanks again.

I saw that. We leave the US on the 3rd, arrive at FCO on the morning of the 4th. I would have loved to leave earlier, but time restraints at work prevented that from being possible. I'm already stretching the rules a bit. But, I KNEW there was no way I was going to fly over and sail on the same day, so took what I could and this is how it worked out. I'll wave as we fly over you that morning.

I am very much into history, art, architecture so

Rome, Florence and Venice.

all or at least one would be a must if its your first time in the Med.

barcelona...vibrant
venice...unique
but also ...athens, i know it's in the aegean,but it is the home of civilization.
