    Dec 15, 2007 Island Princess...Are you going?

As you have read by the title we willl be travelling on the Ilsland princess Dec 15 thru the Panama Canal. Has anyone made this trip previously if so what would you recommend for shore excursions. Also what was your opinion of the Island Princess. We have travelled Carnival, RC, Costa to date. How would you compare Princess line. Thanks for taking the time.

I have moved this thread from the Cruise Polls area. I think more folks will see it here and be able to answer your questions.

You don't have very long to wait! Enjoy your cruise.

I've cruise Princess and RCI. Personall I prefer Princess. The atmosphere, service and food in my opinion are better on Princess. But I will sail on RCI if it fits my budget and time. Oh and if someone else picks the Intenary and when we're sailing (like what I'm cruising next year).

We were on the 12/22/05 sailing of the Island Princess, but to Hawaii. It was fun being on the ship during three holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years).

I prefer the layout of the Sapphire Princess to the Island Princess as the IP usually seemed pretty smoky in the grand atrium with the Crooners bar and Churchills cigar room right there. On the Sapphire, the Churchills is tucked away on the far forward side so you only passed by it if traveling to the Princess theatre on the starboard side.

The IP has a pool under a retractable roof so if it's rainy, you can still enjoy the pool (unless you get very rough seas in which case the pools may be closed as they were for a couple of days on our Pacific crossing). Also, if you're into ice cream, check out the Horizon Court (the buffet) around 3:30 to 4:30 or so. There's homemade ice cream and toppings -- check both sides as it may be on just one side. You can still get ice cream in the dining room during lunch and dinner or pay for a sundae during the day at the ice cream stand near the pools.

Did the partial transit on the Coral

The Coral is the Island Princess' sister ship. Our favorite ship to date. We've cruised Princess, Costa, and Carnival. Really like Costa for the traditional and really loved the Coral Princess.

Would be very interestest in your review upon your return. We are thinking of taking this full-transit cruise next year on the Island.

We sail on Island Princess in Feb. We have arranged private tours for all ports except Puerto Corinto as we haven't found anything suitable there though I am still looking. I hope you will do a review when you return
