Thread: Island Princess, Alaska, July 3, 2006

Hi all.
Just found this site. My wife and I and another couple are on the Island Princess to Alaska on July 3rd, 2006. I'd be interested in suggestions for excursions and other things not to miss. None of us have ever been on any cruise before or to Alaska. We're in our mid-thirties and are definitely not afraid of hikes and other outside activities. We were also curious about renting 4x4's in Skagway outside of the cruise's excursion tours (so we have more autonomy). Thanks for any ideas.

My family went on a round trip from Seattle on the Sapphire but we're a bit more laid back when it comes to ports, especially with a little one (she was 7 on our Alaskan cruise but more interested in the kid's activities).

Probably our most knowledgable member about Alaska is jstducky, Alisa. She'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have about her favorite destination.

If you have specific questions about the Island Princess, we were on it in December. We had an inside cabin, midships and late traditional dining.

Thanks! I did look through those forums already and they were very helpful. We're going to do a glacier walk as a result. People seemed very excited about their experiences doing that. We've also rented a car in Skagway, hoping to find some adventure driving out of town.
