    Talking Hey!

Hey all, 25yr old cruise veteran here...

I'm Lara, 25, from Farnham, Surrey.

I'm currently a history student at the University of Southampton.

I've been on 9 cruises so far with my best and favourite being the year before last on board Cunard's Queen Victoria.

I love Cunard... as you can probably tell from my username I watched all of the construction videos for the making of Queen Elizabeth and went to her Naming Ceremony... then I sailed on her last July to the Norwegian Fjords. Whilst on this cruise I witnessed something I will NEVER forget, the top of a mountain in Geiranger (sp?) it was rather cloudy our entire cruise but as soon as we hit the top of that mountain, it was way above the clouds and was wall to wall blue with warm, bright sunlight. Having pancakes with jam and sour cream was another highlight.

The reason QV was my favourite is because it was my first voyage with Cunard and I made some friends out of the people we shared out dinner table with. Another reason is because unlike QE which was a 1 week cruise, I got to enjoy a full fortnight on-board QV, plus, I got to visit Russia, a place I'd ALWAYS wanted to visit and that will remain with me forever, Russian history being my speciality.

We are looking into going on-board Queen Mary 2 sometime later this year, possibly to do a transatlantic FROM NY - why fly to NY then sail to Southampton? So I can cram my suitcase full of new clothes and not worry about baggage limits at the airport...

So... hello to you all, nice to "meet" you xx

Hello, Lara! A warm welcome to CruiseLineFans. You'll find many other serious Cunard fans here, a ton of information and a strong need for a little more advice and information about Southampton as a port and cruise terminal.

We'd love to hear your advice as a local and cruise vet!

Thanks so very much for saying hello - my mom (who emigrated to the US from the UK many years ago was also from Surrey. Made me )

I got a little fascinated with Russian history while still in college - and have always wanted to visit, as well.

I even went so far as to try and take a Russian language class to go along with all the Russian history courses I was taking - a failed effort. So hard!
