    Welcome Tharyn!

Good luck with making your dream come true. As several have mentioned, working for a cruise line is hard work and not for the faint of heart. I think your Meditation idea is a good one, so continue to increase your credentials and your experience.

Thank you antelipa and Char for your support. Even though working on a ship would be tough, I believe that by doing what I enjoy, it will be well worth it.

Glad to hear a positive response and great advice so soon!

    Hello Tharyn,
Another idea that goes along well with meditation and relaxation is yoga. My daughter is a certified Yoga instructor although she is spending more of her time doing other things these days. the reason I bring this up is that Celebrity has a yoga studio on the ships just for that purpose.

    Hi Tharyn,

Sounds like a pretty good dream to me! I think you should go for it but there is another angle you might want to look at it from.

Working on the ships is tough, especially in the spa. They work very long days, work on commissions and their targets are almost impossible. The market you are looking at is veyr niche and you may have trouble selling it to the larger cruiselines - you would want to start out with ships that are smaller like seabourne etc. and if you are keen you should definitely do.

However, the other angle though that would solve all the above concerns for you would be to do your study ( I think that would be important) and get some experience asap in any area that you can. Then look at becoming a specialist in this area. Whilst you are doing that start researching compaies that do seminars at seas. They are onboard specialist learning programs and and are tailored for groups who have special interests in any area medical, business, arts and crafts, travel, personal development etc. You could then pitch them with what you have in mind and instead become one of their speakers. You normally are working only a couple of hours a day, I don't think you get paid much but you might be able to do one on one consultations or classes on board which you sell or can build up a consulting business.

    Good luck!
