Welcome Robin! I too love planning trips; DH once complained that he won't get to plan anything until he is 85! Lol. I came out with a 5 year plan and asked him to help me with it, and that was the end of him wanting to plan.
Holland America is a totally different atmosphere than Carnival. There are lots of things going on on at sea days, most of it not at the pool. There are cooking demos, movies, lectures, and I can't remember what else right now. It also less frenetic, which we really enjoy. And there are DVDs to borrow for the player in your suite. I think you will have a wonderful time - and since you will be happy, I'm sure your husband will be happy too.

On hiatus from cruising, but still very interested!!!
John: that is my Hubby and me in reverse! He says too much planning ruins the surprise. Yet he likes it when I know all of the great restaurants and places to go. I even print out and laminate photos/menus/directions and put them in an album for some of our trips, which hubby loves going through while on the plane. he especially liked the one I did for BJ and Craps strategies lol
McCruiser: I think that we will like HAL also. I personally don't need days packed with activities and I think since we will be in a suite with a veranda, that Hubby will be loving it also. I just hope that it doesn't spoil us too much!
Thanks to all again for the welcome![]()
Welcome aboard.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.
A bad day at sea is better than a good day at work.
I finally am getting caught up here myself.
I'm not a swimmer but I don't feel bored on sea days. My hubby and daughter can be enjoying the pool, and I'll be over in a deck chair with a chick lit book, kicking back. My hubby was the one who introduced me to cruising and, except for our honeymoon, any vacation we've gone on over two days has included a cruise.

Ha! You will be spoiled!
Enjoy being pampered and spoiled.....savor every moment of that wonderful Alaska landscape from your beautiful balcony! I wouldn't sail Alaska without a balcony myself.
Oh...my "official" welcome ......
Hey RobinWelcome to our friendly cruise community!
Thank you all for the warm welcome, I really enjoy both the people and the site![]()
Char: Yes, I think that I am agreeing that it will spoil us, I find myself looking at cruises and thinking "Oh no, I can't just have a regular cabin, too small, not enough bathroom space, where are my chocolates?!" -- and we haven't even gone yet.![]()
