Thread: New to CLF, but not cruising

Hi all!! While looking for some more information about other cruise lines, I stumbled upon this group. i actually didn't realize how many cruise groups there are! I see a lot of names I know from another group I belong to. Anyway, just wanted to say hey....we are typically NCL cruisers, but have recently decided that we want to try some other lines as hubby and I feel we might be ready for some different experiences. Looking forward to reading more!

Just a question, are you allowed to ask about online agencies in this group? I haven't read everything yet as I just discovered the group today during my lunch while at work....just looking to be a good do bee!

To answer your question, yes! You can ask about travel agencies and agents by name. We like to share whatever cruise knowledge we have.

Thanks for all the hellos! I was at work yesterday and stumbled across this group as I was looking for an answer to a question about HAL and this group came up.

A little about myself...I've been married for almost 30 years to a great guy who shares a lot of my loves to include cruising. We have three grown children and all but one is married and out of the house. We are finally able to take 7 day and longer cruising....one in particular on our radar is the Panama Canal, so I know I will be asking questions because we have HAL, Celebrity and Princess under consideration.

We got our first taste of cruising on American Family Cruises, a short lived precursor to DCL. Took all of our kids for a week and had the time of our lives.....not to mention, we were HOOKED!! My hubby and I cruised on NCL before they went freestyle. We stuck with it because we were spoiled with an upsell back in 2008 and now we can't cruise in anything but suite on NCL. I bought a future cruise credit on this past cruise we took in 2009 and now almost sorry I did because we have been doing a lot research and I'm finding that we really might be ready for a change, be it HAL, Celebrity or Princess. The only thing in Freestyle that I did like is I am all about comfort. There is a stigma that seems to come with NCL on many groups that comes across to me that everyone that cruises wants to be a bum. My hubby and I work in offices and dress professionally everyday, so on our vacation we just want to be relaxed. Things I am starting not to like about NCL is that the menus don't really change the week you are on and the fees for almost everything I see is at least a third more than what other lines are charging. I don't mind cruise lines making money as that's what business is all about, but at a comparable price to others. Looking at some of the other lines has me thinking that we have been cheating ourselves staying with just the one line....so change is in the air!
