Talking My first post and soon my first cruise

Hi everybody! Next year I will be going on my first cruise ever. I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time (please no seasickness!). So far this board has helped me with alot of my questions. I do have one random question, how's the water on ships?? Just curious

Hi & welcome, I think most people find the drinking water just fine, depends on the ship too ..maybe.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

Hey there! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

We have cruised on a number of different cruise lines and have found the water to be just fine. There is always the option of buying bottled water on the ship or bringing your own onboard if you have any concerns about it.

Welcome to the friendliest board on the internet!!!

Char has stated it very well - we, too, have been on many different cruise lines and many different ships and have always found the water to be very good. None of them have had the heavy chlorine taste you'll find in municipal water supplies. We'll take a couple of water bottles with us and fill them right out of the faucet before going into port.

Let us know which ship and itinerary you'll be on, and any other questions you have.

Most people don't have any problems with water on the ships. My hubby is an exception -- for some reason, he has gotten sick about the third or so day on every cruise he's been on until he's done some research and decided to try avoiding the water. The last two cruises we've brought on water (also Pepsi for me), and supplies for making coffee and tea. He'll make his own coffee and tea. No problems at all. But maybe it's something rare that affects few people.

As for motion sickness, you can try out various remedies ahead of time before your cruise and take a couple of those onboard with you. My mother, who's worse than me, got a prescription from her doctor for the patch, which worked for her on her one and only cruise. Ginger seems to work for me (the candied ginger that you can find at grocery stores and ginger-flavored Altoids, that is harder to find -- sometimes Cost Plus World Markets and Walmart). There's also various OTC medications and there's a wristband some people use (one of our tablemates on my last cruise wore one).

Some itineraries don't usually have rough seas, or they're rare. Others are prone to rough seas (the Hawaiian cruise from the west coast is one).

thanks everybody. I am going on the Carnival Fascination to the Bahamas but haven't quite nailed down the date. Probably May next year. Who knows if I love the cruise I might have to do a longer one. Thanks again
