    Smile New cruiser here

Hi everyone, my name is Andrea. I am a nice lady and think you will like me.

For anyone who cares: I am 33 years old and employed in central Ohio. I travel every year, but have not taken a cruise yet or left North America. My dream vacation is a long cruise in the Western Mediterranean. For me, planning is half the fun and always very important. I'm one of those people who is more likely to plan and pack too much than not enough, if that is possible. Then when I get back, the last thing I want to do is get everything out of my small suitcase. The only thing I don't like about traveling is I can't take my two cats with me.

Because I will be spending literally thousands of dollars on a cruise vacatrion whenever I get the chance and also have never been to Europe, I want to get ideas from people who have taken Western Mediterranean cruises and sailed on the cruise lines I am interested in. Yes, I am aware there are many guidebooks and websites for getting the facts, but I also know to really make good decisions, I need to consult with people who experienced what the books, websites, etc. describe.

I look forward to chatting with fellow travelers who know a lot more about cruising than I do while in the planning stages for my first cruise.

Which cruise lines are you interested in for your Western Med cruise?

Thankns Ziggy. Originally I was thinking about Crystal because it looks perfect in every way but the cost is way out of my price range. So then I thought, "What is most like Crystal with a much lower cost?" I am leaning toward Princess right now, but nothing is definite except it will not be RCI, Disney, or Carnival.

Be sure to look around and ask plenty of questions. We even had a slew of travel agents with lots of experience on cruise ships that can find out info if the rest of us can't answer.

Hey Andrea! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

You are wise to do your homework before booking your first cruise. There is so much to learn about cruising and you can find it right here on cruiselinefans.

Besides Princess, you might also want to check out Celebrity for your Med cruise. Both Celebrity and Princess have ships deployed in the Med and they are similar in shipboard experience.

    Happy researching!
