Hola travelers;
I live and work, on the beach in Las Penitas, Nicaragua. It's 20k from Corinto. I have been developing some tours for the ships coming into Corinto. Most folk like to go to Leon and check out the town plaza, churches and markets etc. I hear from a lot of people that they have had enough of that type of tour so I recommend touring the war's high points, where the national guard made their last stand, where Samosa was killed, the prisons and meeting some of the survivors from both sides.
This country is quite hot in the day so finding places to visit that are windy and shady is the key to a tour here. I have friends that live on the big island, Los Brasilia, just outside of Corinto. I can arrange a nice afternoon under the palm trees, hammocks, rum punch and cool breezes, with some of the wealthy Nicas. Hear their side of the story, Everyone wants to come here and give pencils and candy to the poor kids, great but their not all poor here and the rich are real interesting too!
There is a mother/daughter team that has a Finca (farm) call Las Alpes because in the morning due, it looks like the Alpes, they welcome quests for visits and horse back riding etc.
