Trunk Bay usually makes it onto various lists of 'top snorkel spots' in that part of the world.
One of the neat things about it is the marked snorkel path . . ..
I've snorkeled there, and it really is nice.

The Trunk Bay snorkeling trail system stretches some 650 feet, and there are numerous underwater signs to help snorkelers identify the fish and corals found along the reef

We did the St. John's By Surf excursion offered by Royal Caribbean. A bit pricey, but there were only 8 of us total, 6 from the ship and the 2 guides, so it was closer to a private tour than a big bus excursion. Each couple had their own 2 person 14' motor boat to get to the 2 snorkel locations. We prefer smaller groups and we're not really into the "a day at the beach" type of tour.

In St John's, any location is great. We went to Trunk Bay, which is a National Park, the only U.S. Nat'l Park outside the continental United States.
