Welcome to our friendly cruise community!
There are several things to consider. Are the itineraries the same? Is the price for a similar cabin the same? If you favor one itinerary over the other that might be your determining factor.
We have cruised on both ships and enjoyed them very much. The Mariner is larger and has a few more onboard activity venues, such as the ice skating rink and the rock climbing wall. The atmosphere on the Mariner is a little more festive, for want of a better word.
The Millennium is a little more classic in style and onboard ambiance. Celebrity is a little more service oriented and the quality of the food has improved in the last 6 months from recent onboard reports. Celebrity has always prided themselves on their cuisine and presentation, but slipped a bit when all the cruise lines were cutting back because of the economy. Apparently, that has been rectified.
We like both cruise lines and both of the ships you mentioned, but we lean more toward Celebrity and the Millennium....it is a good fit for us.
