Thread: Couple of questions - I'm skiddish

Carnival is my favorite cruise line, simply because I have only cruised twice, and both times it was on Carnival.

Now. I have won another cruise on Carnival, and it looks as if from the contest rules, that I will get to pick the cruise I want if it departs from Galveston. That's OK by me, since I live in Dallas. Any recommendations out of that port for 2009 and maybe best time of year?

Also, I am senior and my husband is handicapped. We need electric chairs and a handicapped room. I know they do have them, because my daughter had one a couple of years back. How do you get a handicapped room?

And lastly, I'm sure this has been asked many times. I got deathly sick on the first cruise, which caused me to balk from taking another cruise. But I won one, and I ended up taking my Mother on a cruise during the Storm of the Century. EVERYONE was sick. I have Lorazepam for motion sickness. Is there anything else that might help a landlubber like me?

Welcome to CLF!

Some people swear by ginger for motion sickness and some of the crew I spoke with on my last cruise said that "bitters" will also help. I find that if I have a drink (usually amaretto & coca cola) that will help my motion sickness.

As for your handicap room, you said you won the cruise so I would contact the place you won the cruise from and ask them how you go about that.

I've never booked one, but friends of mine have and usually they just request it and if the cruise line asked for any information or documentation regarding the disability they've submitted it and got the handicapped cabin.

I've never sailed from Galveston, so I'm sorry I can't answer that part of your question, other than to stay away from Hurricane Season. Hopefully the members who have sailed from Galveston will stop by with some suggestions for you.
