Hello All,
I hope Geofel won't mind if I borrow this thread for a question as I am also pondering on booking an Alaska cruise on the Millennium. (I am new to the forum and this would be my first cruise if I eventually sign up for it!) Can anyone help with this question:
1) For the Ocean View Stateroom with window (but no verenda), can the window be opened?
2) If I pick the Northbound route, do rooms on the starboard (right) side offer a better view during the normal cruise (i.e. not when the ship turns around 360 degree for view of the glaciers)? Because I can't imagine the caption will turn the ship full circle everytime when there is some sceneary that passes by, right? ha ha ha.
Thanks, Wally

Hey Wally! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!
To answer question #1....no, none of the windows/portholes can be opened on the Millennium.
#2...The starboard side is the side toward land when you are sailing north. However, when you are sailing through the inside passage there will be land visible on both sides. You are correct! The captain doesn't "sight see" with the ship. There are lots of places on the ship where you can go to see the views. If the weather is good, up top on deck will give you a panaramic view of everything!

Hello Char,
Thanks for the tip...and such a quick reply. A followup question on the Ocean View room. If the window can't be opened, does it get stuffy for a 7 day cruise? I wonder if the air conditioned air is recycled?
My wife doesn't really use the balcony so I am wondering if we should spend the extra money to get the "ocean view room with verenda" just for the fresh air instead of the recycled air.

Wally, I have never noticed any stuffiness in any of our rooms. We almost always book a balcony because we like to enjoy our own little piece of private deck that we don't have to share with anyone else.
In Alaska we use the balcony a lot. (We are heading up there in May for our 6th Alaska cruise.) If the weather is cool it is convenient to step back inside to warm up for a few minutes and not miss seeing the gorgeous views. I always go out on the balcony for awhile before bed. If you can afford it, I recommend a balcony room.

Anyone getting EXCITED yet?
