Harry, I am a little embarrassed to ask this question but please is it possible that you can give me the actual dimensions of Cunardia like her overall length and width in feet instead of metres for us people who are metric system impaired? And also her gross tonnage? Regards,Jerry

No need to feel embarrassed to ask at all, Jerry my friend. I often convert the figures into feet.

Cunardia's overall length is 457.5 metres or just a little bit over 1,500 feet! Her width is 67.5 metres or around 221.5 feet.

Jerry, her gross tonnage would be around 400,000 - 450,000 tonnes!

Yes Jerry. I only figured that yesterday. I thought the oil tanker I've been talking about the Jahre Viking was heavier, but it appears not. She's longer, but not heavier.

Harry, Cunardia would then be 368 feet longer than the QM2 and about 86 feet wider than the QM2.According to your drawings Cunardia does look like a larger version of the QM2.Did anyone at Cunard tell you that maybe they will consider your designs if they build her and I hope that Cunard really does build R.M.S. Cunardia though it maybe several years down the road. When I was aboard the QM2 in October of 2007 the QM2's environmental officer did predict that several years down the road,Cunard/Carnival Corp. will build another Transatlantic Liner Regards,Jerry

I'm not really sure what people think about her to be honest. She's changed quite a bit since I saw or contacted some of my contacts within Carnival and Cunard. Most say I am undertaking a very big challenge and am very ambitious at the least!

I think it is most likely that Cunard will perhaps build another transatlantic liner, whether it's Cunardia's size is a totally different matter! I don't see a ship like her being built for another 10 – 15 years, around 2020 – 2025. The shipyard where Oasis of the Seas in under construction did say in one of their videos that by 2020 they see ships of 400,000 tonnes being built! So within time ship's of Cunardia's size will be built. But I'm not sure if Cunardia herself will be.

I remember where it was now. It wasn't on the shipyards website, but was infact to the BBCNews website. If you look on the right side, you should be able to see
    <LI class="video-link av-link nth-child-1 last-child">Paul Clifton previews The World's Biggest Ships
That should play the video. If it's the right one. Although it doesn't seen to be working for me!
