Probably won't make any difference IMO.

I actually do have a favorite captian, and if he's at the help, it's a plus, but I've saled lots more without him than with him.

I must say, I'd vastly prefer him if I were sailing through a hurricane, though.

I agree that with very few exceptions, the cruise line is more important than the captain. Each line has it's own flavor which the ship will generally stick with.

Princess is, IMHO, very good but HAL is better. Holland America has been doing Alaska longer than anyone else and has a lock on many attractions. With that said, however, you might not like the laid back style of HAL as much as some of the other lines.
