Smile Going on our 1st cruise

Hi everyone,

We are going on our 1st cruise in June on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas to Bermuda and 3 other ports.

Knowing that you people are so familiar to cruises, I would like to know if
my boyfriend and I should be dressed formally for dining.

Also any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Gia

When you say formal, do you mean a gown or cocktail dress?

Either will work just fine. You'll see gowns, short cocktail dresses, and even ladies in very nice black dress slacks, with sequined tops .

You will see a few tuxedos on gentlemen, but the majority will wear dark suits. A few will have a sport coat and tie.

Welcome to CLF Gia

Your very first cruise.....that is exciting!!! Canarymoon pretty much covered formal dress. A "little black dress" with some nice jewelry will do very nicely. In fact, you can wear the same thing on both formal nights----just change the accessories and you will look gorgeous. That cuts down on the weight of your luggage if you are flying to the port.

think about what you might wear at a really nice wedding or even dressier, if you feel like it. For my first cruise, I went to a mall store that specializes in prom and fancy dresses. Bought a long white dress and a floor length black one piece pantsuit. My guy brought a suit.

Since then, I've been on eight more cruises and stare into my closet to decide which outfits I'm bringing to wear at dinner. I don't have anything sparkly, but many women get glitzed up. Sometimes I just wear a cocktail length dress and feel dressed up with some jewelry.

Once or twice we decided to skip formal night dinner and just go to the buffet. On many of the cruiselines, you don't have to feel that you have to stay in your cabin just because you're not going formal that night. But there's something fun about getting all spiffed up and being in that dining room and seeing what everyone else is wearing.
