Smile Queen Mary 2

My husband & I are taking a Transatlantic Cruise on the Queen Mary. We have never taken a cruise before & are hoping we will enjoy it. What in the way of clothing is appropriate for a 6 day cruise in the month of July.

Welcome to the friendliest cruise forum on the internet!

What a wonderful cruise you have chosen for your very first!

I suggest you post your question on the Cunard forum--we have some members who have cruised Cunard a number of times and I'm sure they can advise you on attire. The link to our Cunard forum is---> Cunard Cruise Line

Enjoy your cruise!

The weather on the Atlantic is unpredicatable. However, you are going at the best time of year.

It will be cooler at sea than it is in the US. However, the closer to the US side you are, the warmer it will be. It may well be warm enough to sunbath poolside or lie in the deck chairs. On the European side, you will want a light jacket and/or sweater.

The interior of the ship is always the same regardless of the weather. Consequently, clothing is dictated more by the ship's style than by temperature. QM2 is a more formal ship. There will be three formal nights on a crossing. On the other nights, it will still be more dressy than on most ships. During the day, it is fairly casual.

I hope this helps.

And Beyondships pegged it. The Cunard ships are all a bit more formal at night than the other ships are. Formal nights are just that, tux or dark suit for men, dresses or nice pantsuits for women.
