Thanks Islandchicklet for responding so quickly. My DH and I have cruised 4 or 5 times before and we love Carnival but we are looking for something to do on Jamaica. I have read some scary posts about people being accosted and robbed on this island. My DH and I are 55 and we realize now is the time to do some things we've never done. We are interested in the Canopy Tour where you swing through the trees like Sean Connery in Medicine Man. Any info concerning Jamaica is very welcome. Thanks again!

I am new to this forum so I am spending the day figuring it out but you might get better luck going to the section with the ports listed and ask there. It has been awhile since I have been to Jamaica so I am not much help with your question. But swinging through trees does sound fun!!

I hope you followed Islandchicklet's advice and checked out our Jamaican board. There should be plenty of info there.

Unfortunately I haven't been to Jamaica since 1994. We decided to have our taxi driver take us on a tour (bf had a good vibe). It was an interesting tour to say the least. He even offered us ganja on the ride back to town (we politely turned him down), but we did see much of the outskirts and flora. Then we did a ship's excursion to Dunn's Rivers Falls. If I really got to do what I wanted to, we would have toured Goldeneye, where Ian Fleming wrote many of the James Bond books. I'm not sure if you can still tour his house or Noel Coward's.

You may want to see if JodiBB has posted anything about her recent trip to a resort in Jamaica.

I would imagine if you keep to a large group such as an excursion, you may be safe. You can stick with a ship's excursion or do an indy excursion that you researched very well.
