We have booked a cruise and now.....

my wife is worried......

I booked a balcony room on the very back of the ship, on the top passenger room deck--Deck 10...on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas........

My wife is afraid that the rocking of the boat will be so bad that we will not enjoy the trip???

Is the back of the boat a bad location? Although it is too late...should I have taken a different location? We wanted a balcony...and I thought the back would be a great place to sit and watch the world go by!

Welcome to CLF.............let me know your cabin number and I'll get back to you..........

Also what is your itinerary? I presume Eastern Caribbean??

What month are you going??

Chances are you will be fine depending on the time of year.

Also go and check the RC information boards and check for a roll call for your cruise..........if there isn't one, you can start one.

Get back to me on the questions I have and I'll get back to you.

Again welcome aboard.

Jim

OMG you have prime property back there. I get bonine at walmart, and you take it once a day starting the day before the cruise!! It does NOT make you drowsy, there are no side effects!! It works for any kind of rough weather on any part of the ship!! You will love the aft!! Sitting out there for morning coffee!! Watching the ship leave a port, At night, under the moon and stars, watching a distant lightening, listening to the wake, heaven!! Welcome to CLF, we are a friendly group, and welcome any questions you have!! We have fun too!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Thanks for the replies!

We are booked for Oct. 9 -Oct. 15...that is the week of my wife's birthday!

Our Stateroom Number: 1690

Our trip will go to the private island of Labadee, Hispaniola(?), Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico....

We have never been to any of these....My daughter will be with us...she has been on about 9 cruises, and is a cruise junkie! I am going to try an get her to register on CLF...since there will be three of us ion the cabin, it may not be too romantic, but we will still have a great time, I think!

Welcome to CLF, qcdad!

We're so glad you're here! Please visit often...

The Mariner of the Seas is a beautiful ship! You are sure to enjoy your time aboard her.

DO you live near Port Canaveral?
If not, and you are planning on coming in a day early, we have a thread with information you might find useful.

It's called Port Canaveral - Things to do and see <---clickable link to the thread.

As for the aft balcony cabin, besides the great view, the balconies for those cabins tend to be more spacious than the balconies in the same category of cabins on the sides of the ship, and that's a real plus!

Ok

You have a D1 balcony.........inside you should have about 184 sq ft. a normal D-1 balcony is 46 sq ft but with the aft cabin it will be probably at least 3 times that.......it is towards the port side but not a corner balcony......

You are in hurricane season but it is winding down.........you will be doing a Western Caribbean.......

If I were you I would take a chance on it...........have fun on your cruise and join us on the RC sub section boards.

Jim, I HAVE to take a chance! It is already booked and charged!!! Well, final payment has not been made, but......

Anyway, we bought the RCCL CruiseCare insurance....I realize that really only covers the cancellation of a trip for certain reasons...severe illness, etc...but the CruiseCare part of it will give the passenger up to 75% in cruise credit if canceled for ANY reason...so, if another Hurricane Ivan is out there, and RC won't cancel...we might and just take a 25% hit and schedule another cruise when the weather was better....I really don't tink we have to worry, though.....last year, all the bad storms were finished before October, i think!

Don't give it up!! There are a lot of people waiting for you to cancel!! We always have cruised in October. If there is bad weather they will sail away from it. You still have your cabin!!!

October is a great time to cruise.

As for the hurricane issue... last year, we cruised during Hurricane Jeanne. We were on the Sovereign of the Seas, which is a smaller ship than the Mariner of the Seas. We actually had a wonderful time, despite missing one of the ports, and returning a day late.
