All part of the "Disney Effect."

I remember when Orlando was hardly on the map! (I was a small child, of course...)

All of Florida is going in that direction....in the next few years, we will outrank New York as the 3rd most populated state in the country!!!! Down here in South Florida, houses under $300,000 are called "studio condos"...no ocean view, in fact, no views at all!! (They were once called, "apartments")

Over here too!! We moved down 6 years ago and had our house built!! We chose the largest floor plan we could find in a 5 brdroom, LARGE kitchen, family room , living room, dining room, and huge lanai. It was $116,000, and with the options came to $125,000. We morgaged the $116 and paid the difference. We just had it refinanced. We came in at $200,000. It would have been a lot more if there were not so many here, or had the kids. You can wash artwork off walls so many times, and we need a new floor! But we won't do it until the kids are older. New homes are now $250 to $300,000, and not on a canal. We also had a lot between our home and a neighbors. He is a fireman and also mows lawns. He needed extra land so came and asked us if we wanted to buy the lot between us, that would give us 3 lots apiece. We did to help him out, and paid $2000 each for the lot. At that time lots were lowest $6,000. Now they are starting at $19,000. Unbelievable!! Cape Coral will hold 400,000 people. There were 90,000 when we came. Now we have 175,000. With a ton of open land unused!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

We built our house and moved in Nov. 2002...it is now worth $350,000 more than we paid for it....on 1/4 acre -- no lake, not near the ocean, it's just insane!!!
