If you are planning to do the swim with the Stingrays in Grand Cayman, check out the pictures in the cruise gallery here... there are several of that particular excursion.

The Mariner is a big ship and you should not feel much rocking. As mentioned it is prime real estate. We pack seabands. They are elastic that go on your wrist. It is a presure point thing. They worked great when my daughter was not feel well. My wife has used them a couple times and loves them. I have never needed them.

Anyway, we bought the RCCL CruiseCare insurance....I realize that really only covers the cancellation of a trip for certain reasons...severe illness, etc...but the CruiseCare part of it will give the passenger up to 75% in cruise credit if canceled for ANY reason...so, if another Hurricane Ivan is out there, and RC won't cancel...we might and just take a 25% hit and schedule another cruise when the weather was better....I really don't tink we have to worry, though.....last year, all the bad storms were finished before October, i think!
I think you will be ok..............not that I am gazing into my crystal ball......the best thing is that if the Western Caribbean is affected by weather then RC has the option of just switching to a more Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The Caribbean is wide and has many options. Captains of any major cruiseline will take passenger safety first........

I have sailed in the last 3 years in October twice and early November once.........never had a cruise cancelled or even the itinerary changed.......did have some rough weather once.........and we had an aft balcony on the Rhapsody.

I would get it and keep it..........at least you can say you have been back there and decide for yourself whether you like it or not.

Let me know if I can further help you.

Jim

As for the hurricane issue... last year, we cruised during Hurricane Jeanne. We were on the Sovereign of the Seas, which is a smaller ship than the Mariner of the Seas. We actually had a wonderful time, despite missing one of the ports, and returning a day late.
It is also almost always the least expensive time to cruise.

Clermont...a nice "little" town that has GROWN too big.....Highway 27 is now a nightmare compared to the quiet little backroad it used to be! And Highwy 50 has become even worse!:thumbsdow
