New and planning daughter's graduation cruise

Out of the blue, my daughter stated she'd like the family to take a cruise to celebrate her HS graduation May, 2007. Of course I think that's an excellent idea as I have always wanted to go on a cruise but I don't know where to go, which cruise line to pick, etc. I'm looking forward to great ideas from this board.

Welcome to CLF!!! What a great idea!!! There are cruises for everyone and we will help with anything you need!! If you have questions we love to answer. Make yourself comfy and enjoy!!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Hi, murray, and Welcome to CLF!

This is just my opinion, but for a first cruise... and with a child the age of yours, I think you might want to look at a caribbean cruise. Everyone seems to enjoy the warmth, beautiful waters, and welcoming people of the islands... especially young people.

If your daughter slikes to swim and snorkel, the Western Caribbean has the better snorkeling reef locations, I think. If you are avid and dedicated shoppers, the Eastern Caribbean might be a good idea.

As for the cruise line, Celebrity and HAL are sometimes less appealing to young people, as the atmosphere is quieter, and there are fewer activities geared to the young and active. Royal Caribbean has lots of ammenities geared to active folks (rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, parades, pool parties, etc) and theiir level of service is usually very appealing to young and old alike. Princess has movies under the stars on the pool deck.

Just some things to think about...

Are you looking for anything specific in an itinerary or cruise line? If so , our collective membership has a broad base of cruise experiene, and I'm sure someone will have answers to your questions, so ask away!

    Welcome to CLF, Murrayhaven!

I am doing the same thing: planning a cruise for middle daughters' HS graduation next year. She is an artist, so I'm patiently waiting for the 2007 European itineraries to come out so that we can find one with as many ports close to major art museums in the Mediterranean region as possible .

Good luck! Everyone is super friendly and helpful. IF you need help, just holler and I'm glad to give you a hand.

    Cheers~
