Hey there - is anyone sailing on Indepence on 12 April 09?

We'll be taking this transatlantic cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Southampton after a trip to Wrestlemania and a drive down from Houston to see the Florida Marlins host the New York Mutts ^^^ Mets!

Hey - we're going to see the Florida Marlins game too. We're Australian and very excited to see our first American baseball game. It should be a good start to a great holiday on board the Independence.

Wow! Which game are you going to? We're planning on the game on the 11th, assuming we can get tickets, of course! Maybe a small libation before or after the game would be in order? I dare say as Aussies you won't object to a beer or two :-)

Yes, we're hoping to get tickets for the 11th too - the ticket logistics are up to my husband but he doesn't seem to think it will be a problem. We're trying to work out whether or not to stay near the stadium or near the port. Any ideas?

Near the port every time.
There are very few hotels anywhere near the stadium, and it's right by the interstate with little or nothing for tourists. We're staying in Miami for a day or so before the game and will drive up from downtown on the day of the game, then drive on to Ft Lauderdale afterwards. Will you have a hire car? if not, we can probably give you a lift from the stadium to Lauderdale if you stay there.
