    Helene Caused Floods and Landslides in Veracruz
    Mexico, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) Floods, landslides and the growth flow of rivers and streams are recorded today in the Mexican state of Veracruz, in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene, downgraded to a tropical depression.

    Although the weather phenomenon landfall yesterday monring, the alert for heavy rains associated to the storm still remains in effect.

    According to reports, in the Boca del Rio area occurred rains higher than those caused by hurricane Ernesto.

    Civil Defence said that rivers Panuco, Tuxpan, Tecolutla, Nautla and its tributaries in the north area represent no danger to the population.

    Helene will dissipate Monday morning, according to the forecast models, the newspaper Millennium said.

    Veracruz was one of the more affected states after the impact of Ernesto in the country last August 19.

    More than 17,000 families and about 6,000 homes were damaged by the storm, which caused also the loss of 13 lives in the country.
