It may only be an exercise of our alert system, but we have an alert on our internal homepage that reads:
***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXE RCISE***EXERCISE*** The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Warning for the area. At 1600 CDT, Hurricane Robert was located at 27.9 N 89.3 W or 370 miles SE of our main office. Robert is moving West/Northwest at 12 MPH. An increase in forward speed to 17 MPH is expected overnight. Maximum sustained winds were 120 MPH. Hurricane Robert is forecast to make landfall near Freeport, TX as a Category 3 on Thursday afternoon. All interests along the Texas coast should stay in touch with the latest advisories on Robert and complete emergency planning. The next advisory will be issued at 10AM Thursday morning. ***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXERCISE***EXE RCISE***EXERCISE***
I like that it is VERY clear that this is not real, and I like that they use the same format as the NHC.
If you are in a hurricane prone area, when you can learn this kind of info from the workplace.
