...olaf weakens to a tropical depression...
At 200 am pdt...0900 utc...the center of tropical depression olaf
was located near latitude 24.1 north...longitude 117.2 west or about
310 miles...500 km...west of cabo san lazaro mexico.
The depression is moving toward the north near 3 mph...6 km/hr. A
turn to the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected
today. On this track...olaf or its remnants should be crossing the
central portion of baja california tonight.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph...55 km/hr...with higher
gusts. Weakening is forecast and olaf should become a remnant low
within 36 hours.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb...29.68 inches.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible across the central
baja peninsula and portions of sonora in northwestern mexico.

...olaf degenerates into a remnant low...this is the last
advisory...
At 800 pm pdt...0300 utc...the center of the remnant low was located
near latitude 24.1 north...longitude 112.3 west or about 50
miles... 80 km...south of cabo san lazaro mexico.
The low is moving toward the east near 14 mph...23 km/hr...and this
general motion is expected to continue until dissipation on sunday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph...45 km/hr...with higher
gusts. The low is forecast to dissipate tomorrow.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb...29.59 inches.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches...with maximum storm total amounts
of 6 inches...are expected across portions of sinaloa...durango and
chihuahua in northwestern mexico.

for the eastern north pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude..
1. The remnant low of olaf is located over southern baja california
about 60 miles west-northwest of la paz mexico...and is producing
an area showers and thunderstorms along the mainland coast of
northwestern mexico. Re-development of this system is not
expected...and there is a low chance...less than 30 percent...of
this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
It is good to see that this is dying out. We are heading down there this morning.
