    PACIFIC TS Lowell

This one looks like he will be around longer than Karina. It formed in a similar place, and MAY pose a problem for the lower Baja and/or cruises to Pacific Mexico.

Didn't know about this one. The big news even here has been Ike.

    Mindy, you have now

    Tropical Weather Update
    September 10, 2008 - 6:30 p.m.
Royal Caribbean International continues to closely monitor the path and progress of Tropical Depression Lowell to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storms.

The safety of our guests and crew members is always our foremost concern.

Given the locations and projected paths of Hurricane Ike and Tropical Depression Lowell, we are altering the itineraries of seven ships:

Ships sailing from Port of Los Angeles
    • Vision of the Seas, which departed the Port of Los Angeles, September 7, will sail a revised itinerary. The ship will not visit Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Tuesday and Mazatlan, Mexico, Wednesday. Instead, the ship will visit Puerto Vallerta Wednesday, spending the night and departing Thursday evening.

At this time, no other Royal Caribbean International ships are being adversely impacted by tropical weather.

We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and will update this information Thursday, September 11, at 10:30 a.m.

Carnival had also modified their route for the Elation this week, and dropped Cabo San Lucas as a port of call this week. I hope no storms are around in a couple of weeks, since we will be on the same ship out of San Diego, going to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. We rebooked this cruise because Carnival is cancelling 5 day cruises after mid Feb 2009 due to fuel costs. They will only offer 3 & 4 day cruises, going to Catalina and Ensenada.

I'll have to look into this as I heard on the news yesterday that Lowell was downgraded to a depression and causing only thunderstorms in the California desert.

According to our St. Louis weather reporters, the remnants of Lowell went just north of St. Louis last night, and headed toward Chicago. From the same storm, Wichita, KS got 10 inches of rain.
