I tried reaching my family on Long Island, (east of NY City) since they should have seen affects of the storm well before the storm center went across the east end of the Island last night. Weather.com shows they got 3.5 inches of rain, which is probably not bad, as long as it didn't come down too fast. They don't answer the phone, which means either they had a power failure or they are out doing their regular errands. I will give you a better report when I get one.
Spoke to my Mom finally. She said they didn't have any problems where she it, but she had heard that there was some flooding on the south shore. I went to find out more about that, but didn't see anything. I did find a short blurb about the storm in Newsday, the Long Island newspaper,
