Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    BREVARD SCHOOLS TO RE-OPEN TOMORROW
One of othe schools had 2" of water in most of the classrooms... It will open tomorrow. There has been a cres of 85 working there round the clock since Thursday to dry and disinfect all the affected areas. The are still working there tonight, but are gonna make it!

    SCHOOL BUS ISSUES
Lots of school bus stops with storm damage or still underwater.
They are announcing... get kids to nearest unflooded major road, and school busses will find them.

They had the bus drivers drive their routes late this afternoon to inspect and see where they might and might not be able to pick up kids.

They are opening an info line about it as of 3:30 in the morning

    OFFICIAL RAINFALL from FAY:
    Cocoa Beach - 24.38"
    Melbourne - 25.28"

ST JOHNS RIVER and other waterways in the area are STILL RISING.
They opened a floodgate down in the south end of the county today. They are trying to reduce the amount the St Johns will rise in counties to the north.

(If that doesn't make sense to you non-Floridians - the St Johns flows South to North.)

    FAY still affecting Central Floridians

Fay is gone, but her legacy lives on. Some of the things happening TODAY in our area as a result of FAY's waters:

Boil water alerts here and there all around the area.

Flood waters draining into area lakes, rivers, streams, are now causing THOSE to overflow their banks. Quite a long stretch of State Road 46 was CLOSED today because Lake Harney has now overflowed its banks.

The Salvation Army is still sending out canteens to feed people in flooded areas, and they are also handing out clean-up kits.

Massive flooding in DeBary has led to a new problem -- a massive sinkhole -- causing about 20 homes to evacuate overnight

Homeowners along the St Johns river (and its tributaries) are on alert for possible flooding and/or evacuation orders, as the water level continues to rise.
