... New information...


Dolly... a category 1 hurricane... is moving steadily toward the
U.S./Mexico border. The main rain shield has entered the eastern
portions of the coastal counties of deep south Texas early this
morning. Tropical storm force winds in excess of 40 mph with
gusts as high as 60 mph or greater will begin within the next 1 to
3 hours. Tornadoes are also possible as these bands move inland.
As the core nears the coast later this morning morning
significant impacts from hurricane force winds are anticipated.
Residents should have completed preparedness activities. Mobile
home or recreational vehicle owners should evacuate now.

... Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 am CDT Wednesday through
Thursday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of deep south Texas... including the following
areas... Brooks... coastal Cameron... coastal Willacy... Hidalgo...
inland Cameron... inland Willacy... Jim Hogg... Kenedy... Starr
and Zapata.

* From 7 am CDT Wednesday through Thursday evening

* with Hurricane Dolly expected to make landfall near the
U.S./Mexico border region around midday tomorrow... widespread
rainfall amounts of 6 to 10 inches can be expected across deep
south Texas over the next couple of days. With the slow
movement of the storm... isolated totals of 10 to 15 inches of
rainfall is possible across portions of the lower Rio Grande
Valley.

* Residents... particularly those in flood prone areas... as well
as those living near small streams and creeks... should be
prepared to move to higher ground.

A Flash Flood Watch means that inland freshwater flooding is
possible during the next 24 to 36 hours. Residents living in
flood prone areas should take action to protect property.
