Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Good Video for everyone, not just New Yorkers.![]()
I was wondering where do people go to evacuate in a hurricane. I imagine there's Red Cross Centers and schools inland that are ready to go in the summer. But do residents have a predetermined house to go to (friends or families that live inland) or do hotels set up cots in conference rooms and lobbies?

All of the above!
Folks should have a plan in place for those uncertain times when a storm is approaching. Some have family and/or friends who would provide temporary shelter inland. Some utilize the official shelters that are set up in their home cities in schools and stadiums (remember New Orleans and Katrina?). On occasion, not very often, hotels will offer public space if the hotel is in a location that would provide safety.
Lots of folks head away from the coast and stay in motels. Rooms are hard to find if you don't reserve ahead!

I just can't imagine having to do this several times during a six-month period. Our local weatherperson was talking about the mainland area of Mexico that will probably be affected next by Dean. He mentioned that these are poor people. I would think they probably can't evacuate.
