OMG Chuck, that was from a tropical storm????![]()
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Yes. It went forward and then back-up over the course of 3 days, so it dumped tons of water. I-59 was a river. Houston is only about 50 feet above sea level with the water runoff controlled by bayous that run throughout the city. My FILs house nearly flooded.

Was it last year when Hurricane Rita was? It was headed that way and of course they were not going to allow a repeat of Katrina, so they ordered evacuations. The Galveston and surrounding areas were OK, they were use to it. But, when they started to order the larger scale evacution of Houston, it became a mess and the highways were literally jammed. Cars and trucks sat so long they they ran out of gas. The gas stations along the routes ran out of gas (unforseen outfall of the oil company mergers is less gas stations along the route). I sure hope they have worked out their problems!
