Celebrity Solstice Beverage Packages - Are they worth it?

Has anyone comments regarding the purchase of Celebrity beverage packages. We are curising for 7 nites on the Solstice...I have no idea what drinks cost on board. Premium package is $394 with gratuity, for unlimited drinks up to $12 in value anywhere on board the ship except room service.
Is it better to pay as you go?

Hey There! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

I think you would have to break it down to a per day cost and then see if it would be worth it to you. The Premium package would set you back $56.28 per day just for you, there is no sharing of the beverage packages. Would you be buying that much alcohol or other included beverages? Bear in mind that most drinks will be in the $5 to $9 range.

I don't have a price list handy at the moment, but beer will run you $4 and up...mostly up. Frozen drinks range from about $5.95 for the drink of the day up to about $9.95. Martinis will be anywhere from $8.95 to around $15 for the really "special" ones. Drinks in the Molecular Bar are all $12.

Some folks feel that they need to drink to get their money's worth! Not a real good attitude to have.

If your choice of beverages would mostly be in the high price range then it would probably be worth it to you.

You really should dig into this. I don't know specifics about Celebrity's offer, but it does sound a tad bit high.

My point of reference is my cruise over Thanksgiving on Holland America. New to me were two approaches:

1] So-called "gift cards" whose face value was discounted by 10% to purchase. These could be used across the ship for bar purchases - except during "Happy Hour," below.

2] So-called "Happy Hour," where drinks were half price.

Over the 10 day period, I spent $200 on the "gift cards," and another $100 on other drink purchases. These figures include the built-in gratuities.

Without going back to other records, I THINK that I may have spent a teesy-weensy bit less this trip! It was, however, really very easy to use the gift cards.

Just keep an eye on the balance, because you don't want to disembark with a lot of drinking left behind!

Ditto here. We are not drinkers but do order the soda and water packages. You have to figure out how many drinks you plan to drink and judge accordingly.
