    You can bring a bottle of wine on the ship..

    On the last cruise I went on we were allowed to bring one bottle of wine with us into the cruise ship. I was on the Carnival dream...It worked out pretty good..no problems.

    Im sure there are different rules for other cruise ships.

    On our last two cruises, hubby brought a box-o-wine onboard. No problem. Princess is okay with wine and sodas. On earlier cruises, if we were able to stop at a liquor store, he would buy a bottle of wine. Again no problem.

    But there are some cruiselines that will confiscate any wine along with liquor. It's best to check the website and any info sent to you before packing the bottles.

    Not sure if these policies are totally up-to-date, but here's the latest policies we gathered from all the cruise lines about bringing booze onboard your cruise;

    I know Holland America lets you bring as much wine/champagne as you like, it's one of the reasons that I chose them! Hubby and I have our favorite wines that we like and most times we don't see them out at restaurants and such.

    P.S. HAL, if you are listening, we like anything Molly Dooker and Gosset champagne

    On our Noordam cruise last month we took a case of mixed wines that we got from Total Wine near the port. We hugely enjoyed having a glass or 2 of wine on our balcony, and will be a big consideration when we book our next cruise. HAL didn't make less money from us, because we spent the money we saved on wine on a Thermal Suite package for 2 - it was fabulous!

    You can bring your own wine to dinner - we did it a few times. They're supposed to charge corkage when you do that ($18, I think), but often didn't.
