    - pack some of your favourite drink and mixers in your bag, if you have a balcony room or suite its always great to have a drink with family or friends you meet.
    - If your a big soda drinker then purchase the soda sticker if the cruise line does one! ( Princess does one where you can drink as much soda as you want for $29.50)

Most cruise lines to not allow you to bring on alcohol. Ihave brought on sodas when I have a refrigerator which saved lots of money as even with the soda card you have to drink at least 4 sodas a day to come out ahead( NCL $7 a day versus $2 a soda.

There is another thread out here with lots of ways to save on cruises which are very helpful too( such as bringing ponchos and thermoses for when going ashore) and many more.

Cruise lines have rules and regulations for a reason.....we might not understand the whys and wherefores, but it really isn't up to us to pick and choose the ones we want to follow. What they don't know might end up hurting you.

On our cruise last month on RC, over 100 people had their booze confiscated upon boarding. I think the ships are cracking down more and more on this.

Hmmmm...I have experienced just the opposite. I know they wouldn't let you "flaunt" it, but if it were packed in your luggage, they rarely made a fuss. All these 100 people had to go get their luggage at guest relations(and probably got their hands spanked too). With the economy the way it is, I'm betting the cruise lines will rain on more booze parades.

the best suggestion if you cruise Carnival

The Bon voyage dept will have a full liter of Crown for example waiting for you in your room. It costs $55.00 but that is a fraction of what you would spend ordering one drink at a time. Then you bring those little "mini airplane bottles" (empty) and fill them before you go to the pool. This way you are not having your booze confiscated and still saving money. Carnival does not advertise this but I know it to be a fact. You must call though--not online.I know all the ins and outs and will never post unless I know it to be a fact. Also 1 bottle of wine or champagne is allowed plus a 12 pack of whatever softdrink you like. By the way booking direct with the cruise line is an excellent way to get expert info. Travel agents also. They are our partners. The cruise line and the TA are not in competition. The rates are the same. The choice comes down to service & who do you want to plan your vacation with. I am a direct employee and I do an outstanding job.

Hi Jenifer! I have worked with both the cruise lines directly and with travel agents. Generally I find that if you want to know about a specific line or if you know that you want to go on a specific like, going through a travel agent or going through the cruise line is a similar experience. But if you want overall cruise information, a travel agent is a better way to go since they can give an unbiased (hopefully) view that the agents working for the cruise line cannot.

I also like to transfer my bookings to a travel agent even when I book them directly through the cruise line because the agent is a bit more personal and will tell me when rates go down, if a better cabin becomes available, or the like.

Sounds like you are one of the really dedicated people over at Carnival. Welcome aboard! Hope you will be around to help answer some of the Carnival questions that pop up with our members (Oh, and beware of Annette and Lorrie who are sailing out of Galveston in about 8 weeks- they are real troublemakers! http://www.cruiselinefans.com/clubho...e-waiting.html (Diary of a Newbie in Waiting!!!!!) )
