Royal Caribbean Credit Card

Does anyone have an RCI credit card? If so, are the perks worth it? We only have one credit card, and are thinking about switching to the RCI card since we plan to keep cruising and cruising.
Interested to hear from those who have it or have had it.
Thanks!

We have it and use our rewards for onboard credit. We don't carry a balance, so I don't know how the finance charge compares with other cards.

Yep, what Char said. But I have just recently switched to Princess because that's the next cruise I'm taking.

Thanks Char and Hannah. We want the card strictly for the rewards. While we will use it every month, we definitely won't carry a balance. Do you have any tricks you use to get the most out of the card?

Not really. Just be sure to pay everything associated with RCI with the card so you get double points. It doesn't take long to add up when you pay for your deposits and final payments!

I do not have it but looked into it, got discover instead - since I just want points and RCI is one of their participants, but I think only when you book...OH WELL

Anyway, I believe you get 1 point just for everyday stuff, so use it everyday. Rather then carry cash or use your debit card, use that card for Gas, Dinner, Movie Rentals, even your AM coffee!

Also look into what happens to points if you do not pay balance in full....

I sometimes don't think right and use cash.

We have had our RCL card since 2004. Use it for everything then pay it off at the end of the month. The points add up quickly and we then turn them in for OBC on our cruises. Last Feb, when we cruised to Panama Canal on Brilliance we had $400 OBC. Even if you only cruise once a year it's worthwhile.

I totally agree with you. We have done the same in the past. And the OBC is nice

Our cards are on the way! I'm excited to earn the points, but I have to admit it will take some getting used to to use this card like cash. We are used to only using our credit card for traveling and the occasional urgent matter.

I can't wait to see the reward points adding up though! They will be put to good use!
