Cruiser Gets $28,000 Cell Phone Bill!!!
Didn't know quite where to put this one, but finally decided on 'Save Money' beause it could help you to be aware of would COUld happen thata could cost you a lot.
Seems this fellow got a bill from his cell phone company for nearly $28k for 2.5 hours of cell phone use
at the Port of Miami . Apparently, he WAS on board,
but the ship had not yet sailed!
You;ll need to reaad the article to get the full story (see link below), but here's the gist of it.
He had some sort of fancy set up, whereby he could 'tune in' to has home cable TV service via his cell phone. He used this to watch a football game prior to sailiing on his cruise. He was chaged by the kb, at international rates.
In this particular instance, he was able to proove the ship had yet to sail, and got the bill forgiven, but it does serve as a warning to be careful with that cell phonewhen cruising!

I don't use my cell phone on the ship. Don't need to, so we keep it locked in the safe.
As a precaution, I also have it set for no roaming...only Sprint network.
Too much technology going on for a nice relaxing cruise vacation to happen anymore. Give me a ship and a balcony and I'm happy.

Last year we were charge the cruise roaming fees and we weren't even on board yet. We'd just gotten to the port when my mom called...and boy can she talk. Luckily our cell service forgave the extra charges. Thank Goodness!
