    Money Saving Tip #4...

If you think your going to be away from the ship at lunch time and are short on money, call Room Service before you go and order a couple sandwiches and some fruit.. Bring along a few zip-lock bags and a softside lunch box from home and you can take your lunch with you. Put the sandwiches in zip-lock bags and put them in the soft side, along with a zip-lock bag containing ice to keep the sandwiches fresh. Food may be very cheap where your at, but it can also be very expensive...

You will have to smuggle the food off the ship because they do not allow you to take food from one country to another.

If you have children, pack baggies, and take small cereal boxes, fruit, small cartons of milk, cookies, from the buffet, to your cabin, to put in the fridge. They can be snacks for the cabin, or cereal in the baggies out on deck to munch on.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I don't know about taking it off the ship, but they do worry abut bringing it on again. But for places like Alaska, this is great and we have had no problems. Never tried it in the Caribbean.

In the Caribbean, some lines request that you take no food ashore. Especially fruit. That's not always easy for those with children, but I think pre-packaged food doesn't fall under those restrictions.

We have done something like this. You can take things that are wrapped without worrying about taking something "bad" ashore.

We usually plan our days ashore to be back for lunch and sometimes go back out again.
