Way back in the olden days we didn't even think of cruising! I think that was when the world was still in black & white before color was invented!
However, we did fly a lot since Bob worked for Eastern Airlines (remember them?) We got married in Atlanta, flew to Miami and then to Nassau (it is a cruise port, so this is somewhat cruise related ). Little did we know that a hurricane was on the way! Remember, this was in the dark ages before computers and up to date weather reporting.
We had 2 glorious days on the beach (I have pictures to prove it ) and then folks started to leave the island and businesses were boarding up! We got the last flight out of Nassau to Miami before the airport was closed down. Got to Miami and decided to fly to Baltimore to visit his family (on our honeymoon, go figure) got the last flight out of Miami before that airport was closed.....flew to Baltimore and the hurricane followed us up the coast!
Now we know about cruising (more than 40 now) And about hurricanes (we live in Florida)
I was in Minnesota, he lived here in Grays Harbor... he flew to Minnesota, attended my college graduation, then we drove a Big Yellow Truck full of my stuff to WA. We had our wedding three days after we arrived (he did most of the planning - I just sewed my dress and send invitations), stayed in a local hotel (well, on the beach, in Ocean Shores. With balcony and jacuzzi). A couple of months later, we took a trip to Reno, as he'd won it!
I have friends that just got back from their honeymoon cruise! I helped with the wedding, and they left the next day for their Alaska cruise (Princess. Golden. Same Itinerary we are on in September...)! They saved $$ for excursions, though... they booked an inside, but were moved to an obstructed view cabin. Had a lot of fun, so she tells me
I was threatening to pull the plug on the ceremony and get hubby to elope with me in Vegas and get married by an Elvis-impersonating rabbi. Amazingly the reason for this is that the rabbi that bar mitzvah'd hubby years before was the one driving me crazy with his strange rules and requests.

I've mentioned this in another thread. We eloped during the second semester in college. Neither family was "thrilled" so when school was out for the summer we went to Hawaii for a "ten day honeymoon". Once we got there, we got jobs, a furnished apartment, and registered for University of Hawaii. Oh yeah, we cashed in our return trip tickets (in those days you could still do that.) Well the marriage that would never last celebrates its 44th. anniversary this coming March.
I know this is an old post, but what a sweet story!!!!!

Did you take a cruise and where? Did you splurge on a much nicer cabin than you would have normally? Or did you take a land trip?
Our story is smiliar to one of the other folks here...we're not married yet, but we will be!
Janie and I will be getting marriied April 19, 2009. This will be Janie's third time at the alter...but I will be 45 years old by then and this will be my very first marrige...WooHoo!
We get married on a Wednesday, then the next night we'll board a plane to Hawaii, where we will spend a week on Oahu. Then, after that, we board the Carnival Spirit for a 12 day Hawaiian cruise, ending in Vancouver...
We are splurging a bit. This will be my 4th cruise (3rd for her). Each time before it's been either a interior or a window cabin. This time, however, we're getting a category 11 balcony suite...the 2nd best cabin on the ship!
Janie's been married three times before....but has never had a Real Wedding. So I'm doing my best to make it as special as I can...'cause she's worth it!

We went on the Princess Carribean and it was wonderful for our honeymoon! I recommend it to anyone-We had a wonderful time and the staff made everything so special for us! Yes, we upgraded to a suite and it was worth the splurge! You only do a honeymoon once!
I love Princess! Food was great, entertainment was fabulous and the whole trip was relaxing and smooth...

I can only imagine what sort of request the rabbi had.
When we got married we had 2 rabbis. The one that had married my parents and the one that had married my D/W's parents. The 2 of them had both been in Seattle for over 30 years and they had never been on a pulpit together. It was quite an event.
