My husband knows someone who got married on the Diamond Princess in its first month of sailing (the bride worked for Princess at the time so all their guests got employee discounts). We tried to watch on the wedding cam (some of the Princess ships have cameras in the chapels that you can check out at Princess.com), but they had turned off the camera for the ceremony.

Why would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good cruise by getting married?

The only way I would go for it would be to get married at the dock before leaving...get it all done and then relax relax relax (and recover) the entire cruise.

If you get married ashore and then get on the cruise ship all of your guests can be in attendance. Then just the two people getting married can escape to the ship to be alone and get to know each other better.

Do you really want to have your 14 year old cousins around for days before and after the ceremony? How about Aunt Margaret and Uncle Robert?

If the ship is big enough I would think it could work...as long as they don't know your room location! haha! I could just see my Uncle Bill bribing the steward to let him saran wrap the toilet or following us around the ship honking the just married air horn!

For the record, you can have your wedding onboard a cruise ship and have non-sailing guests attend the wedding.

All guests board the ship around 11:00-11:30, ceremony takes place 12:00-12:30 and you have a 1-1 1/2 hour reception. All non-sailing guests must leave the ship around 2:30-3:00. This way you have your wedding on a cruise ship and you don't have to sail with annoying relatives. Also, you could have the photographer of your dreams, without paying for a cabin for him/her.

BTW, if you are considering having your wedding onboard a cruise ship at the embarkation port, plan well in advance. They only do 1-2 ceremonies on embarkation day, and for them to be booked up 9-12 months in advance in not uncommon.
