  • I was aboard the Carnival Valor on May 20, 2007 (7 day eastern carribbean)
  • Our ceremony took place at 2pm while still in the port of Miami
  • The reception was in the disco with 2 hour open bar and heavy hot and cold hors d'oeuvres
  • We had 27 guests for the wedding/reception but only 18 stayed sailed with us
  • I grew up cruising Carnival, so it meant more to me to use them
  • I did use the ship's videographer our guy was great and he even followed us on a group tour in St. Thomas...nice memory keeper for the whole group. The photographer on the other hand was a hassle and the major upset of the event!
  • A cruise wedding is very budget friendly compared to the other elaborate options today, plus very fun and a unique opportunity
  • I think the cruise line you should pick is based on preferences as a traveler and of course your budget and age group as well
as far as the details, I booked the cabin block and picked the cruise date about 10 months out. I would recommend that if you want a specific ship, room and date to book at least a year or so out.

We did not have the best welcoming weather in Miami on that day...monsoon would be the best way to describe it...so boarding the ship got delayed. However, they did let me and all my guests (sailing and non sailing) enter the terminal at 9am as we were the very first to board the ship when it did get clearance! We ended up getting on the ship around 10:30am. My ceremony was pushed back from 1:20 to 2:00pm. Me and my girls got ready in my room and the men got ready in my parents room. My room was decorated in Honeymoon decor and had tons of gifts and champagne from family. The time flew by and before I knew my girls had gone down to rehearse and I was alone in my room awaiting the wedding coordinator to come get me.

The ceremony was lovely. It was in the Capitol Room which was on deck 4, near the cigar bar. It was set up like a chapel. Very lovely. I provided my own flowers and rose petals for the floor. We wrote our own vows and turned them in a month prior to the sailing...ceremoney lasted about 20 mins because of unity candle, poem reading and vows. The reception was in the disco. Very cool. They put our names on the TV's in the disco! The cake was 3 tiered, pretty and tasty. (They served the remaining cake at our last dinner on the cruise with a song and champagne toast!) I had a first dance and then danced with my daddy. The dj then played our requested songs the remaining time! It was so much fun...the two hours flew by...kissed the non-sailing guests good bye then we were off to the boat drill. I was lucky because I didnt have to wear my life jacket...we really didnt have to go, but I wanted to pictures. Then a week of celebrating with my friends and family then we flew to Mexico for a week by ourselves!!!

Sounds fantastic.
