Thread: First Time Booking with Holland America -- Alaska 2013

Only 310 days to go .... we are almost there .... LOL.

I've been reading lots of Westerdam Alaska reviews. Mostly very positive. Think we made a good choice of ships and itinerary.

I am not saying anything! I do wish you a great cruise.

Neal ... I understand and have read your review about the horrors of your cruise. I'm sorry that this happened to you.

We are booked for this cruise and looking forward to it. The reviews that have been posted the last 2 months of this ship and this itinerary have been good (a few dislikes, but nothing major). I think we made a good choice.

I know, that is why I did not say anything negative. Everything I have heard about the Westerdam has been positive and it was in Half Moon the same time we were and I found most of the more attentive staff to be from that ship!


Just check out the hair dryer before using it.

I promise to check out the hairdryer ... or maybe my husband should be the one to ... or I could cut my hair even shorter so not to need the hairdryer at all just let it dry on its own. Course letting it dry on its own may not work in Alaska ... LOL

Any time I book a cruise, I go thru and check reviews on the ship, crew and itinerary. We had hoped to sail round-trip out of SF to Alaska on Princess, but next year is a different ship. There were many negative reviews about existing issues that were not fixed before or after drydock. The reviews were numerous and so much so that I knew that ship was not one I wanted to be on. We have numerous friends that have sailed on the Westerdam and they all agreed it was a good choice.

I think like with anything it pays to do the research, and then make our decision.

We like the Westerdam -- have quite a few days on her.

We also will not sail on the Noordam again.

Should I sail on the Noordam and bring it some good cheer?
