An excerpt from an old description of the Sov:

Among 1,175 cabins in four main categories, 732 are ocean-view in superior, large or standard. Although there are no balcony cabins on the Sovereign of the Seas, 299 have third or fourth berths. For luxury at sea, there are Grand, Royal, and Owner's suites.

Sad to hear they lost lots of money( Hope, the Rotterdam find a good owner, who keep up her for next any years. Good thing need to be in use. If the Rotterdam can't sail, can she to be a hotel or museum in another post or remain there in Rotterdam port with her new owner.

I wanna to buy the Rotterdam lol-joke

The new owners (if there is a buyer) will need millions of dollars to move her (if they can) as well as keep her up to being a hotel.

It is a very expensive deal to do anything like.

Even the old Queen Mary in Los Angeles is not doing well as a hotel.

The balconies were retrofitted on her last major refurb when whe was still home ported at Port Canaveral

She was not built twith balconies, but I believe her two sisters may have been.

It looks like she did not have them originally.

I have since done more research and found that the Royal Princess built in 1984 had 152 cabins with private verandas.

I also found and story on the Sovereign OTS from Nov/Dec 1988 and it does not mention balconies.

We did a Baltic cruise and a full Panama transit cruise on the original Royal Princess -- loved that ship.
