    HAL Alcohol Policy

While surfing for an answer to this question I have received many different answers. Would some please clarify HAL's alcohol policy? My wife and I sailing the Noordam on May 14th and we are looking to keep costs down.

It is my understanding that we cannot bring hard alcohol on board. We can however bring Champagne and wine on board. We would be charged a $15 corkage fee should we chose to consume these in one of the ships restaurants, but we would not be charged the corkage if we drank it in our stateroom. Is this accurate?

If it is accurate, does this mean that we can bring a case of wine with us when we embark?

    Thanks!

hal's policy (sorry due to fractured wrist can only type with 2 fingers):

you can bring as much wine, champagne, bottled water and soda as you want -- there is no limit -- i know that some people have brought on 2 and 3 cases of wine

also you can buy wine/champagne in the various ports and bring that onto the ship as well

there is an $18 per bottle corkage fee if you take a bottle to the dining room or bar/lounge -- no corkage fee if you consume it in your cabin -- if you don't see a wine bottle opener in your cabin -- ask your cabin steward for one

if you want any hard alcohol -- check out what i am about to post for prices

we buy a bottle or 2 for our cabin

Thanks Krazy! Very helpful. If I can only find a wine store between the airport and port in Rome I am going to be quite happy.

My wife and I have the ability to go through a "heroic" amount of wine when we do not have to take care of our 4 and 5 year old girls. Since our trip is just us, we both look forward to glasses of chardonnay at lunch, pre-dinner cocktails and at least bottle at dinner. We are not big party people, but make up for lost time while on vacation.

A case should suffice for 7 nights. We might not drink it all, but we can at least feel free to offer some to any new friends we meet.

if you have any unopened bottles of wine at the end of the cruise -- you can give tham as gifts to your wine steward, cabin steward or dining room wait staff -- they do enjoy have a night party once in a while

Maybe i just buy a separate case for them before we board and give it to my steward upon embarkation. Might lead to some interesting towel animals!
