    Question Fort Lauderdale Hotels

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a nice hotel to stay at in Fort Lauderdale for a 1 night pre-cruise stay? Thanks!!

I guess it depends on how much you want to pay. Next month I am staying at the Westin Beach resort. I am near the beach . I walk outside the door and I am on the beach. It cost about $200.00 a night Last year I stayed the comfort inn on Sterling road.
nice place . There is a shopping mall nearby ,walking distance. It less than a $100.00.

We have stayed many time both pre and post cruise at the Embassy Suites on 17th Street.

They have a manager's cocktail hour and free full breakfast.

    There is also a gym.

The Embassy Suites has a new restaurant -- E-Spot -- it is really great.

The Harnor Shops are close by -- short walking distance that has lots of shops and restaurants. Many people go to Total Wine and pick up wine there to take on the ship. Also there is a Publix there -- pick up anything you may have forgotten to pack.

Also comes to mind - the Marriott Airport and Port Everglades. About $160 comes with breakfast buffet I think it is for 2 and free shuttle from airport and to cruise port.

I have stayed at the Comfort Inn on Stirling Road. Nice hotel, close to shopping/food. They provide free shuttle from the airport and a shuttle to the pier (I think there is a small free for the port shuttle). They have a nice pool area and their rate includes breakfast the next morning.

We are staying there again on 11/7 of this year. Got a rate of $95.00 plus tax.

If you wish to stay close to the port, there are a lot of hotels to choose from. The rates at these properties tend to be over $100 per night. The Yankee Clipper is closed for renovations. You have the Hilton(formerly Fort Lauderdale Grande) directly across from the port, Hyatt Pier 66, Embassy Suites, Renaissance Hotel Holiday Inn Express, Marriott's harbor Beach, pricey but excellent, and a good many on the beach.

I've got 2 groups staying there in November and got some great group rates. There are free airport/cruise port shuttles. My rates started at just under $80 per night including tax.
They also have a cruise and park package for those driving to the port. Starts at under $100 with 7 days free parking.

I was booked at the Yankee Clipper but I was transfer to the Westin resort. Its right near the beach . There is a special walkway that lead to the beach.

That's why you were transferred to the Westin. The Westin was the former Sheraton Yankee Trader which underwent a massive renovation. It re-opened in the Spring of this year, 2009, I was told. Every piece of furniture in the rooms, kitchen equipment, etc is brand new.
It's directly across from the beach, just take the pedestrian overpass to the beach. Shula's On The Beach is a great restaurant on site at the Westin.
