Question HAL Food: "Must Try" & "Best Avoid"

While food is totally subjective, it's always fun to read the opinions of others.

What's your favorite food on HAL that you suggest others "Must Try" ... and ... which do you consider "Best Avoid" ?

We were only on HAL for one night, but I thought all of the food was very good. Several steps above RC and Princess.

Escpecially loved the Scallops we had for dinner.

Joe had those Alaskan Scallops one night -- they were great!!

We loved the majority of the new chilled soups: roasted peach; aprioct; blueberry.

We avoided the "Chef Rudi's Italian Meatloaf" -- first of all -- we don't like meatloaf -- maybe others do.

Our ALL TIME FAVORITE was the Dover Sole!

Unfortunately, it's no longer served on a regular basis ....

Haven't seen Dover Sole on HAL ships in years.

Food WE avoid -- Chef Rudi's Italian Meatloaf -- we don't like meatloaf in any language.

I loved the Porterhouse steak at the pinicale grill. I don't mind paying the extra money.

I absolutely love the bread pudding in the Lido at lunch. On our first HAL cruise (Zuiderdam, 2003) I found a wonderful seafood salad in the Lido on the 2nd last day. DH tells me he saw it there almost every day prior to that - thanks! I've never come across it since, and I've really been looking!

Best to avoid: the olive soup . . . blech!

    Smooth Sailing!

    Olive Soup??

We have sailed well over 500 days on HAL and have never seen Olive Soup on a ship.

    Doesn't sound appealing to me.

    Wonderful food!

I'm a dessert lover, and my favorite was the double no-sugar chocolate ice-cream. They brought me 4 scoops every night whether I asked for it or not and I felt very spoiled!
I also loved the croissant panini's at the Lido grill... what ever you wished. I usually had egg salad or salmon, or both.

the bread pudding was wonderful too, with the sauses.

The steak was magnificent in the dining room.

Thinking about the meals is making me hungry!

I almost forgot.... the rolls! The bread was fresh and crusty and we all devoured it!

Our table had vegetarians at it as well, and they told us their food was extremely tasty too.
