Well, I promised this so here goes.....
We are not yet on the ship since check in is not until 1PM and Deb decided she wanted to sleep in this morning. We are currently at the Comfort Suites (with free internet service - plug) so I have a few moments to gab.
First, the flight was uneventful. No crashes, no real hiccups, no lost luggage, none of the problems that I might have faced. The flight was 10 minutes late and packed.
The first flight was from Dallas to Houston. Love Field (home to Southwest) was great. We had approximately 1 person in front of us in line for security and we were through all of security in less than 5 minutes. It took me a while to unload all my electronics into the bins and a few minutes to undo my shoelaces.
Houston to FLL was packed. Deb and I had to sit on different rows but it wasn't too bad. We both had interesting people next to us - all of whom were going on cruises (duh....) so we got a chance to give advice on the best ships, the best service, and so forth. Hopefully some of them will come to this board after they complete their cruises (one couple is doing their first cruise, the other set - two nice ladies have done several including the Danube river cruise). Got some more info for that thread........
I was a bit worried about our luggage. We have four bags, two of which we checked in and two of which we carried. The carry-ons have our emergency clothes in case our luggage gets lost. You know, the basics, three days worth of books, clothes, shoes, and so forth. The only tings that would have been nice to have would have been toothpaste (last time the TSA gestapo confiscated a new tube of toothpaste because it was more than 4 ounces - I offered to squeeze out the difference in weight but they did not go for that idea.....)
This morning I dicovered I left my toothbrush at the house. We are going to CVS as soon as Deb gets dressed.
Back to yesterday. We got together with two couples that I met on the dark side at Bubba Gumps for dinner. The restaurant is themed after Forrest Gump. Food was good but not spectacular. Deb had a salad (she hates shrimp) and I had fried (yup) shrimp. Peter and Dave, the two male components of the CC group are fun. Peter is as bad as I am and in some cases worse
Deb is almost ready so I better sign off for now. Hopefully I can get a wifi connection from the ship without burning precious minutes. If not I will burst mode when I get an opportunity.
