Thread: Disappointed in HAL tours

I agree. I booked shore excursions with HAL, then I would cancel them. Just couldn't make up my mind! I either found so many that I wanted to do, or nothing I wanted to do at some ports. I found that some of the shore excursions would be 3-4 hours long, so that meant that you couldn't do anything else. We would walk around the towns, but the heat/humidity would be so bad that we didn't want to shop; just wanted back on the ship. It would be nice if they could offer 1 to 1 1/2 hours tours so that you had a choice in variety or if you chose to book last minute when you returned from a tour. We did enjoy the 2 tours that we booked thru HAL. But, we enjoyed the ones we didn't book with them more.

Are you doing a back to back on the Volendam in OCt & Nov.

HOw many days is that total...

Thanks for this info. It's frustrating when you've been looking at the excursion book for a year or more dreaming about where you'll go and what you'll do and then find out that it is no longer being offered. Not much you can do though...

If you read my signature we will be doing back-to-backs on the Volendam in 2006.

This November we do back-to-backs on the Ryndam.

Not only is it frustrating to see excursions offered in the booklet and on HAL's website and then see that when you want to book them, they are not available for your cruise.

Several times we have booked tours only to get an e-mail that the tour we booked has been cancelled - and the cruise hasn't even begun!!

Our first cruise in modern times was the Maasdam.. We booked two ships tours and what a rip-off they turned out to be... Since then we've booked at least a couple dozen with private vendors, got a better tour at half the price...

Try going to each islands websights to see what is available on each island.

Sometimes you can save money but more importantly you can get a better idea of the tour.

Once you find something that may interest you put a thread on the board to see if anyone has done the tour and their opinion of the tour.
