Charge for bring wine on board

Is there a charge of $15 per bottle of wine at the time of boarding?? I read on another site that some cruise lines charge $15 on embarkation.

I don't know of any cruise line that charges you $15 to bring the bottle onboard (perhaps this is something new I haven't heard about).... but there are some cruise lines that will allow you to bring a bottle of wine onboard and will charge you $15 - $25 as a corkage fee if you want to bring it into the dining room and have it for dinner.

If you want to enjoy it in your cabin, then there is no corkage fee.

But the number of cruise lines that will allow you to bring a bottle of wine or champagne onboard is shrinking.

HAL still allows passengers to bring as much wine and champagne on board as you want.

    There is no limit.

If you are going to drink the wine in your cabin, pack a wine bottle opener.

If you are going to take the wine to the dinning room, there is a $15 corkage fee per bottle. This $15 includes the 15% gratuity.

Being able to bring the wine onboard was one of the factors that drew us to HAL. The promise of good service might have had something to do with it also.

I for one wish that HAL would prohibit people from bringing wine onto the ship.

As it is, right now HAL is charging far higher prices for a bottle of wine than other cruise lines just to make up for the loss in sales.
